Paywalls

[ed. Everybody hates paywalls (see here, here, here, here and here), and some are more impenetrable (and irritating) than others (like the Washington Post, thanks J. Bezos). There are some workarounds and it's probably worthwhile to revisit them from time to time. Here are a couple I've found on the Chrome extensions page:]

Cookie Remover: removes cookies (and paywall) from the current page.

Outline: Read and annotate without distractions (cut and paste url for a paywall/ad-free experience).

Also, just opening a link in incognito mode (Chrome users) can sometimes work
