[ed. I just spent a delightful half hour with Mike and Kathy Carroll, both very nice people. Kathy started the Lanai Animal Rescue Center and showed me a video of the fenced cat sanctuary she developed for abandoned and feral cats here on Lanai. It's about a quarter-acre in size, has over a couple hundred cats and is maintained by donations and fund raising. If you check out this video you'll see it's quite an innovative solution to caring for stray cats (all neutered) and protecting the island's native bird populations. The cats certainly look happy.]
